I AM: Declaration of Principles

Don’t ask others how you should define yourself.
Don’t seek advice on how you should improve.
Improve because you see the need for growth within yourself.

Never stand down for anyone.
Rise for yourself, always.
Stand tall, no matter where you find yourself,
whether in the gutter or the depths of despair.
Demand to be seen.

It’s not entitlement to expect a helping hand,
but a failure of humanity when it is withheld.
So, be that hand to others,
no matter how many times you’re bitten by a snake.

Most importantly,
remember that your life is but a blink in the face of eternity.
Stand against cruelty,
stand against selfishness,
stand against entitlement.

Stand with God,
however you perceive the divine,
and lean in toward those who need you.

Your wealth, your material possessions,
your accolades, your achievements,
your selfish victories—
none of it will matter before the eternal truth.

Judge yourself not by the world’s standards,
but by the light of God within you.
And forget the rest.
Live by that light.
