Midsummer Fire
A Poem of Unitas Panthea
Come, gather round the firelight bright, upon the longest day and shortest night. Raise high your cups and greet the hour, for summer has come in all her power.
The fields are green, the heavens burn with gold, and once again the ancient stories of the Deathless Gods are told.
With dancing feet and joyful voices, we welcome the High Sun whose radiant crown blesses the earth and warms all living things.
Praise great Helios, whose chariot crosses the sky, bringing light to the world and glory to the season.
Hail Holy Mother Vestaria, gentle keeper of the sacred hearth, whose eternal flame gathers friends together and makes every house a home.
Where her fire burns, hospitality flourishes, peace is preserved, and love endures.
Therefore let bread be shared, let wine be poured, and let gratitude be offered for the blessings of another summer.
Remember also the honored ancestors, for they are never truly absent. They draw near to the warmth of the hearth, rejoicing in the remembrance of their descendants, sharing in the feast unseen.
Joyful Dionysus brings laughter, wine sweeter than the vine itself, and the holy delight that teaches us to celebrate existence.
Great Demeter blesses the fields, ripens the grain, and fills the world with abundance, that none may know hunger.
Pan, beloved Faunus, plays his pipes among the trees. His laughter rides upon the wind, and the forests dance with life.
The birds, the rivers, the hills, and every living creature proclaim that the Gods are with us still.
Apollo fills the air with harmony and teaches beauty through song.
Artemis walks among the wild places, guarding beasts and sacred groves.
Aphrodite causes flowers to bloom and fills the world with love and delight.
Swift Hermes blesses roads and friendships, bringing good fortune to every traveler.
Mighty Zeus reigns above, upholding the sacred order of heaven, while gracious Persephone walks among the living during this season of light.
And beneath the fertile earth, Plouton guards the hidden riches from which all life is renewed.
Thus Heaven above, Earth beneath our feet, and the Deep below are united in one sacred household.
As evening falls and the stars appear one by one, may we rejoice in the gift of existence.
May we cherish friendship.
May we honor the Gods.
May we remember our ancestors.
May we protect the Earth.
And may the sacred fire within our hearts continue to burn through every season.
Ave to the Deathless Ones.
Ave to the Ancestors.
Ave to the Sacred Earth.
And blessed be Midsummer, the Feast of the High Sun.
Ave.
